Biography and Interests

Leonardo graduated from Physics at the Universidad de Los Andes in Venezuela. Part of his training was carried out in the laboratory of Chaos and Complex Systems of the same university, where he became interested in the application of computational and statistical techniques to study interdisciplinary problems. Leonardo is currently doing research in the field of decision making; in particular, he is investigating the neural processes that are important for choosing appropriate responses in distracting environments. The long term goal of this investigation is to provide a detailed account of how these processes are disrupted in a state of cortical disinhibition, which is the case in schizophrenia.
